A straight look at scigst price — the three pricing models in this market, which one bites later, and the costs that never appear on any pricing page at all.
What GST software is worth paying for
Not features. Almost every product in this market lists the same features, and most of them are genuinely there.
What is worth paying for is what happens on the days that go wrong: whether the tax split can be got wrong at all, whether the return summary reconciles without repair, whether a second person can be given a login safely, and whether you can leave with everything.
Those are the four things that decide whether a year from now this was a good purchase. Everything else is decoration.
The costs that are not on any pricing page
- The second user. This is where most pricing steps up, and it is what most small businesses need within a year.
- Renewal, as against any first-year or introductory price.
- The edition you actually need, rather than the one that was quoted.
- Setup, data migration and training — real money for installed software, and usually quoted separately.
- Time per invoice. Thirty seconds against two minutes, across a year, costs more than any licence difference. Nobody invoices themselves for it.
- Errors the system lets through, paid for at return time in somebody's hours.
- Being late, which carries a per-day late fee per return plus interest on tax paid late.
- Getting your data out, if export turns out to be a paid feature.
How Billixo is priced
- Free plan — ₹0. No card, no expiry. Volume limits, one login, a watermark on the PDF, no GST return export and no AI features. Everything else works.
- Paid plans — bought for a term. One payment for the period, not a subscription.
- No auto-renewal. No card is kept on file. When a term ends the account settles back onto Free rather than stopping or charging.
- No per-invoice charge. Volume is a plan limit, not a meter.
- Team logins included on the paid plans rather than sold per seat.
- Export on every plan, free included — CSV, Excel and JSON.
- Fourteen days of the full paid product on every new account, free, so you know what you are buying before you buy it.
- A money-back window on paid purchases, stated on the pricing section.
Working out what you should actually pay
- Count your invoices in a normal month, and in your busiest month. The busy month is the number that matters.
- Count how many people need to raise an invoice or see the numbers. That decides whether per-user pricing works for you.
- Decide whether you need the GST return export monthly, or whether your CA assembles it anyway.
- Decide whether the AI features — bill scanning especially — would actually save you time. If you enter more than twenty purchase bills a month, they will.
- Start on the free plan and see which limit you hit first. That limit is what you are buying, and nothing else.
Why we do not publish competitors’ prices
Pages comparing scigst price usually list every vendor’s pricing in a table. Those tables are almost always out of date, and being wrong about somebody else’s prices is both unfair to them and useless to you.
Ours are on the home page and are current by definition. For anybody else’s, go to their site. Any comparison table on a vendor’s own website — including this one — should be read with that in mind.
Free, cheap, and expensive — in the long run
The cheapest software in this market is not the one with the lowest price. It is the one that stops you making the expensive mistakes: wrong tax heads, broken invoice series, a return that does not reconcile, purchases entered twice.
That is why the free plan here is a real plan rather than a demo. If a ₹0 tier removes those mistakes for a small business, the business should be allowed to stay on it — and upgrade when its own growth, not a countdown, makes the case.
Invoice numbering: one unbroken series per year
The invoice number has to be consecutive, unique within the financial year, and no more than sixteen characters of letters, numbers, slashes and hyphens. Gaps invite questions. Duplicates cause them.
This is the single most common reason a spreadsheet-based billing setup fails an audit: two people billing on two machines, both starting from the last number they remember. A system that issues the number centrally cannot make that mistake.
The series restarts on 1 April, and Billixo restarts it for you rather than waiting to be told.
Credit notes, debit notes, and fixing a wrong invoice
An issued tax invoice is not something to edit. If the value was too high, or goods came back, the correction is a credit note that references the original invoice. If it was too low, a debit note. Both carry their own numbers and both appear in your return.
There is a deadline on the credit note that matters: the adjustment has to be declared by the return for the relevant month of the following financial year, or by the annual return, whichever comes first. Past that, the note exists commercially but the tax cannot be adjusted.
Software that lets you quietly retype an invoice raised last month is not doing you a favour.
A note for accountants and CAs
If you are the person who has to make sense of a client’s billing at the end of the month, what you need from their software is narrow and specific: a complete outward supply summary, correct place-of-supply treatment, HSN present on every line, and an export you can open without repair.
Billixo produces GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B summaries and exports to CSV, Excel and JSON. Client-side, the invoice fields cannot be skipped, which removes the category of problem where the data was never captured in the first place.
What "free" means here, exactly
The Free plan costs nothing, needs no card, and has no expiry date. It is not a trial that turns into a bill; it is a plan you can run a small business on indefinitely.
What it gives you:
- Real GST invoices with the full Rule 46 field set
- Customers and products, with HSN/SAC held against each
- A daily and monthly invoice allowance, generous enough for a small operation
- One login
- Export of your own data, whenever you want it
What it does not give you:
- A watermark-free PDF
- GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B export
- The AI features — bill scanning, HSN lookup, the assistant
- Extra team logins, bulk import, recurring invoices and reminders
Every new account also gets the full paid feature set for its first 14 days, so you can see what the ceiling looks like before deciding whether you need it. When that ends nothing is charged and nothing is deleted — the account simply settles onto Free.
Start free now — it takes an email address and about a minute.
Reliability, backups and getting your data out
Cloud billing software is only as good as its worst day. Two things matter more than any feature list: that your data is backed up somewhere you can reach, and that you can export it in a format something else can read.
Exports here are CSV, Excel and JSON, on every plan including the free one, covering customers, products, invoices and payments. That is the honest test of whether software respects you — not what it promises, but what it lets you take when you leave.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Billixo cost?
The Free plan is ₹0 with no card and no expiry. Paid plans are bought for a fixed term with a single payment; current prices are on the pricing section of the home page, which is the only place they are guaranteed current.
Is there a monthly subscription?
No. Plans are bought for a term and paid once. Nothing auto-renews, and no card is kept on file — when a term ends the account settles back onto the Free plan until you choose to buy again.
Do you charge per user?
No. Team logins are included in the paid plans rather than sold per seat. The Free plan is a single login.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. It sits in this installation, scoped to your company. AI requests only happen when you explicitly ask for one, and nothing is sent anywhere otherwise.
Is it really free?
Yes. The Free plan is ₹0, needs no card and has no expiry. It has volume limits and leaves out the paid conveniences — watermark-free PDFs, GST return exports, the AI features, extra logins — but the invoices it produces are real GST invoices, and you can export your data from it whenever you like.
Try it — the demo is the product
There is no sales call and no scheduled demo, because a recorded walkthrough of somebody else’s data tells you nothing about your own. Open an account instead and raise a real invoice for a real customer; it takes about a minute and costs nothing.
